ANA COST-SHARING GETS THINGS DONE IN AMAPAS

The public stairs from the Highway to the beach at Calle Almendro, used by many residents and visitors, are now wider, safer, and have a new hand-rail, thanks to ANA’s “50-50-50” Program.

An ANA member, concerned about the dangerous condition of these narrow, old brick stairs, asked ANA to see what could be done.  We took a look, and got to work.

In partnership with City Hall’s Obras Publicas, which contributed the labor (50% of such projects), ANA split the cost of construction materials and supervision (50%+50%) with our neighbors in Suites Claudia and Villa Blanca, making an otherwise expensive neighborhood improvement project affordable for all the participants.

ANA is always working on the beautification and improvements of colonia Amapas, thanks to the annual dues and contributions of its members.

ANA has other “50-50-50” projects in the works.  If you have a neighborhood improvement idea in mind and would like to be part of this program, contact us at admin@amapaspv.com.

Hurracane alerts and mudslides reports

Due the hurricane season has started, and been 2015 the four Eastern Pacific Hurricane season that have recorded their third name storm by June 11, it can be a very active season.
It can bring a lot of good raining and relieve on the heat, but it is important to be informed and protect in case of an imminent hurricane hit.
This week we will be having the remains of Carlos a Category 1 hurricane near Puerto Vallarta, rainfalls as a total of 3 to 6 inches are possible through Thursday morning. Life-threatening flash floods and mudslides are possible, particularly over mountainous terrain (Amapas upper side).
Since Carlos is a small storm, this rainfall may occur only in localized areas, some mudslides has occurred and Proteccion Civil and the Firefighters on Conchas Chinas at “la casita” station are working to clean up and open roads; for instance this morning they were working on highway 200, also around Gardenias Street passing Avalon.

ANA is working on sending the reports to them, if needed, so please email at: admin@amapaspv.com with location and pics of the mudslide.

Please be safe, be aware of the official reports

Headlined by Amy Armstrong, Kim Kuzma and Bohemia Viva, the 2nd Annual Pulpito Drag Derby kicked off this year’s Vallarta Pride, drawing a street-filling crowd. The fun started at five with great music and an underwear model competition judged by Andrew Christian.

The crowd cheered 13 drag contestants in outrageous costumes and heels as they worked their way through six crazy Derby ‘Challenges’ to the delight of the crowd.

The winner’s $5,000 peso prize was donated by Pinnacle Resorts. The ANA contributed another $5,000 pesos in seed-money, as well as organization, leadership and financial oversight, while 40 neighborhood volunteers gave their time and efforts to make the event a financial and entertainment success.

Derby profits went to support Pulpito-area street improvements and local charity SETAC. Photos and video at www.facebook.com/pulpitodragderby.
