PULPITO DRAG DERBY M.C. & SPECIAL GUEST-TALENT

Amy Armstrong publicity still 1 (2)Larger-than-life musical talent Amy Armstrong, famous for having the voice of an angel and the mouth of a sailor, will be M.C./Entertainer for this year’s Pulpito Drag Derby, Thursday, May 21, at the intersection of Pulpito and Olas Altas, just up from colorful Los Muertos Beach.

Amy will get the party started at five, warming up the crowd with her special mix of humor and song, and introducing Derby contestants in all their sequined splendor as spectators place bets on their favorite drag queens.

Amy will be accompanied and backed up by equally talented Bohemia Viva, aka the dynamic duo Andrea and Luis, also well known Vallarta entertainers.

Amy will also provide her own special brand of running ‘color commentary’ when the Derby itself gets underway at seven, and a dozen contestants in heels and sparkles compete for $8,000 pesos in cash prizes as they run the Pinnacle Stairs and perform tests of skill, coordination and dexterity – all while keeping their wigs in place and seams straight – well, something’s got to be!

It’s all part of Vallarta Pride, and great fun for a good cause – all profits go to SETAC and the Amapas Neighborhood Association.

Everyday should be Earth Day!

15 - 4The Amapas Neighborhood Association (ANA) will soon be launching the Amapas Plastics Recycling Program.

In the next few months, you will see and hear about some of our area condominiums participating in this program. These beta sites purchased one of the ANA produced baskets and we will be in the testing phase to work all the bugs out of this new program.

The next phase of our roll out will be to other condominium buildings who want to join in and we will be working with local businesses downtown to be part of the program.

Plastics Recycling Coming to Amapas!

LOGO RECICLAJEIn the next month, we’ll be seeing a dozen new, specially marked wire Recycling Baskets on our streets and beaches.  They’ll also be appearing in the garages and trash collection areas of our participating condo buildings.

Recycling reduces the volume of trash that goes onto the street and into the dump, and reduces the incentive for dumpster divers to go through our trash.  Eventually, we may be able to recycle glass and aluminum cans, but, for now, it’s plastic containers (preferably empty) only.

Here’s how the Amapas Plastics Recycling Program – starting soon — works.

You get:

A specially-marked Amapas Plastics Recycling Basket – or Baskets – for  your building specifically for empty plastic container collection & pickup/disposal.

Our independent recycling contractor picks up the contents once a week on a regular schedule – or more often, as needed – all you have to do is call.

If you’d like additional baskets, or if you’d like to donate one for a public area, you can order them by emailing us at Info@amapaspv.com.

Here’s all we need from you:

The name and contact information of a Responsible Building Representative.

The name and phone number of your Mozo and/or Security Staff who will be coordinating pickup.  You and your building decide where to place the baskets internally, and where/how pickup will take place.  We just need to be able to contact someone directly to coordinate pickup.

The specific location and other details for regular weekly Plastics Recycling pickup and any special instructions.

And we need $200 pesos/basket.  This small price covers the cost of fabricating the baskets and their identifying weather-proof signs, plus underwriting the cost of public area Recycling Baskets on Amapas-area streets and beaches.  You will receive a receipt or factura from the ANA Administrator.

Email us with your orders, comments or questions at Info@amapaspv.com.

Adopt A Pulpito Plaza Planter

Plano Jardineras001

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR KIND DONATIONS! ALL PLANTERS HAVE BEEN ADOPTED!

Earlier this year, the Amapas Junta Vecinal raised $50,000 pesos for construction materials to build new planters, replace old sidewalk paving, and make other improvements at the intersection of Calle Pulpito and Olas Altas.

With construction labor provided by Puerto Vallarta’s Obras Publicas, the planters are now complete, and it’s time to fill them with beautiful, colorful plants! The Junta needs to raise $60,000 pesos ($4,800 USD) for good planting soil, the plants themselves, installation and ongoing maintenance.

Here’s how you, your friends, family or business can help:

  • Adopt an entire planter (‘Full Share’ – $20,000 pesos = $1,600USD)

and be recognized with your name or inscription on the planter’s only ceramic plaque.

  • Adopt half a planter (‘Half Share’ – $10,000 pesos = $800USD) and your name(s) will appear on one of only two plaques on that planter.
  • Adopt a quarter planter (‘Quarter Share’ $5,000 pesos = $400USD) and your name(s) will share a plaque with just one other contributor.
  • Adopt an eighth planter (‘Eighth Share’ $2,500 pesos = $200USD), and your name(s) will share a plaque with 3 other contributors.

Immortalize your contribution to Pulpito Plaza in tile – share one plaque forever with your spouse or partner, or with friends – go in together and buy a Half-Share or Quarter-Share as a couple, two couples, or a group!

Contribute now! Contact ANA Administrator Oscar Magana at Admin@amapaspv.com, or phone him at 322 120 6666 for more information.
